Scottish salmon farm sea lice data to be published by law – at last!

At last, the Scottish Government is going to make it a legal requirement for fish farmers to report on sea lice levels on fish farms and supply that data to Scottish Government.  Initially, the Scottish Government refused to make this a legal requirement on salmon farmers and deliberately avoided ‘holding’ such data itself to make sure it could not be subject to requests made under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations, but a Decision obtained by Guy Linley-Adams from the Scottish Information Commissioner in 2017 made this position untenable and this has led to a change in the law.
