Scottish Information Commissioner orders SEPA to publish salmon farm pesticide ecotoxicological data

Guy Linley-Adams obtained a Decision from the Scottish Information Commissioner concerning the withholding of ecotoxicological data on the sea lice chemical treatment, azamethiphos, an organophosphate pesticide – After a prolonged FOI battle with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, the Commissioner ordered SEPA to publish data on the toxicity of azamethiphos to lobster larvae, crustacea that are particularly sensitive to OPs. The published data casts doubt on the licensing of azamethiphos, in the 1990s, for use on salmon farming.
